Following a meeting today with Friends of the Earth Cymru, Head of Campaigns Julian Rosser Mr German said, "An Environmental Impact Assessment now would mean information being available about the possible affects. This information must be available if we are to have an informed Public debate about the project."

Newport County Council have appointed Vulcan Aviation Consultants to look at the viability of the project from an economic and aviation point of view.

Mr German continued, "We will soon know more about the viability of the project. Newport County Council should endeavor to ensure that the environmental aspects are also known to allow informed public debate."
